Week 4 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

Week 4 was a bloodbath for some, but Art Schlicter rose above the pretenders and was perfect on the week. He now trails perennial early season darling (and late season flop) The Big Hurt by only $100 in the East….T-Ferg only won $100 this week, but maintains his lead in the lackluster North….Kimmy Gibbler rising up from the bottom of the South standings to win $500 on the week….Don’t look now, but Chris B. Corey is making a charge in the West. He won $500 on the week. Also of note, Kenny Powers was perfect and is back to even money.

Losers

Bud Fox bet four games and lost them all in Week 4. He slipped back to near the bottom of the East Division….Don Mattingly, who some have been calling “The Bud Fox of the North,” also bet four games and came up empty. The Beard of Zeus was sitting pretty but made no bets this week and lost $600….In the South, Boss Hardigan dropped $500, and so did Patrick Bateman. But Bateman did it by going 0-for-5 on a five-teamer….No big losers in the West this week, but The Notorious ABT lost $300 and went from tied for the division lead to $400 off the pace.

Week 3 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

Week 3 was mostly a dumpster fire for the league (net -$4,500 overall), so finding winners was a challenge at times….The Big Hurt remains atop the East, but he lost -$300. I guess he’s a winner right now?….T-Ferg was a shining star in Week 3, winning $500 and taking over the lead in the North. The Beard of Zeus had a strong showing as well, but a late bets fine kept him from perfection this week….In the South Division, mere survival was enough to get into the Winners section this week. Patrick Bateman lost $100, but now has a little bit of a cushion in first place….Chris B. Corey might be making his move in the West. He won $500 and rose up the standings.

Losers

Bud Fox, Face, and Abe Froman walk into a bar — and they all lose $500 and set themselves further back in the East Division….Don Mattingly suffered a setback this week, dropping $300 in the standings in what was a great opportunity to distance himself from the cellar dwellers of the North…So many losers to choose from in the South. Is it Thine who went 0-for-5 in the most conservative of plays? Is it Kimmy Gibbler, Dr. Oge, or Boss Hardigan who all lost $500? Nope. Judge Smails pulled out his wild card bet and went down in flames, losing $1,000 for the week….One week after being perfect, Mr. Marbles dropped $500 and went back down to last in the West.

Week 2 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

The Big Hurt rose to the top of the standings in the East with a solid week. He’s $500 clear of all competition….So far the North is ugly, but Gordon Bombay is out in front and could have a chance at pulling away early in the season….Thine had a huge week, winning $500 and jumping into a tie for first. Both he and fellow expansion franchise Patrick Bateman have been impressive in the early going….And The Notorious ABT continues his winning ways from last season, grinding out another week of positive dollars.

Losers

Face was perfect in Week 1, then couldn’t get a win in Week 2, so he’s back to $0….In the North, Karl Farbman and Larisa Oleynik are two peas in a pod. A loser pod. -$1,000 for the year….Kimmy Gibbler had a tough week in the South and is sitting in the cellar….And Kenny Powers went 0-for-2 in Week 2 and finds himself in a hole early in the season.
