Super Bowl Standings

by The Executive Director

Commentary: Both underdogs covered in the conference title games, and four FMFL franchises won $500, including the three tied for the lead – Karl Farbman, The People’s Champ, and Will Cover. Babe split and won $100, and he’s in the four spot. Don Mattingly got back into contention, and Larisa is hanging around, too. Given the unique betting rules for the Super Bowl, you only need to be within at least $600 of first, second, or third to have a chance at the money. These six franchises all can still win the title. Bud Fox, Blossom Russo, and Ron Mexico are too far back to get any of the loot.

Karl Farbman $900
The People’s Champ $900
Will Cover $900
Babe $700
Don Mattingly $500
Larisa Oleynik $500
Blossom Russo -$900
Ron Mexico -$900
Bud Fox -$1,100

Conference Championship Standings

by The Executive Director

Commentary: It was survival of the fittest in the divisional round, as only three franchises made money for the week – Babe, The People’s Champ, and Ron Mexico. All three only won $100, but Babe used it to pull into first place with a $200 lead on four other franchises. Karl Farbman, Larisa Oleynik, and Will Cover all had identical bets, and remain in the thick of it with two weeks to go. Down went Don Mattingly, dropping $500 and now $600 off the pace. And it will take a miracle for Bud Fox or Blossom Russo to get a piece of the prize pool after both falling to -$1,000.

In order to be within striking distance for the Super Bowl, a franchise only needs to be within $600 of the lead to have a chance, so there’s a good possibility there will be many franchises in the hunt on the final day of the season.

Babe $600
Karl Farbman $400
Larisa Oleynik $400
The People’s Champ $400
Will Cover $400
Don Mattingly $0
Ron Mexico -$400
Blossom Russo -$1,000

Divisional Playoff Weekend Standings

by The Executive Director

Commentary: The bulk of the money in the first weekend was on Houston and the Giants. Since both were winners, there were five franchises that were perfect in Week 1 of the postseason. Among the perfect teams were three out of the four division winners from the regular season – Larisa Oleynik, Karl Farbman, and Will Cover. The other division winner, Bud Fox, went the other way, losing $500. Two other franchises went winless, digging themselves into a $1,000 hole with only three weeks remaining and a limited slate of games to choose from. They will have to pick winners, but also pick the opposite way of the leaders. The only franchise in between undefeated and winless was The People’s Champ, who sits at $300 and is definitely in the mix. However, the odds are that at least one of the five sitting at $500 will be perfect this week, so he’ll have to keep pace.

Babe $500
Don Mattingly $500
Karl Farbman $500
Larisa Oleynik $500
Will Cover $500
The People’s Champ $300
Blossom Russo -$500
Bud Fox -$500
Ron Mexico -$500
