Winners

Waldo Geraldo Faldo closed the gap on Karl Farbman in the race for the East. He’s just $100 behind with two weeks to go….Kenny Powers continues to hold serve in the North. He has a $1,600 lead, but OJ still has that coveted wild card bet if he wants to make a at the title…Bud Fox won $500 but only made up a little bit of ground on South Division leader Kiko Garcia. It’s a two-horse race from here on out….Ron and Rick are in a dogfight for the West title. Both won $500 last week and will continue to battle for the division and the overall title. Boss Hardigan made a big move, too, winning $1,000. He’s now just mere percentage points from gaining a postseason berth. It’s also notable that Blossom Russo popped into a playoff spot despite have late bets last week.

Losers

There were no big losers in the East Division in Week 15, as most made minor moves up and down. This is also the one division where all the franchises still have somewhat of a shot to make the playoffs….The Phoenix failed to gain any ground in the North once again this week. After a solid start to the season, it will be tough for him to make a postseason push….The 21th Precinct was trending in the right direction but faltered in Week 15 and will likely be on the outside looking in come playoff time….The Notorious ABT is the only West franchise out of contention. The Doctor is Out.

Wild Cards – The following franchises still have their wild card bets available:

East – Karl Farbman
North – OJ, The People’s Champ
South – None
West – Dr. Oge, Yaz

Winners

Karl Farbman jumped back to the top of the East with a perfect week. Gordon Bombay also won $500 and moved into playoff position….The rich continue to get richer in the North as Kenny Powers increased his lead on the division and also remains in the top overall position. The People’s Champ won $500 too and he still has his wild card bet available….In the South, both Kimmy Gibbler and Mr. Marbles refuse to quit. They both won $500 and are just outside the playoff hunt….As Ron and Rick battle it out for the West Division crown, Yaz won $500 and is now just $100 back from a playoff spot. He still has his wild card bet as well, so he has the potential to make a run.

Losers

After enjoying a big lead after Week 9, Don Mattingly has plummeted down the standings. He’s -$2,100 over the past five weeks and on the brink of 86ing himself from the postseason….OJ slipped back and is now $1,500 behind Kenny in the North. However, he still can bet his wild card, so he could make up that difference in just one week if the plays his cards right….Chris B. Corey. Goodnight sweet prince….The Notorious ABT lost his big bet and has little hope left for the 2014 campaign. Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

Wild Cards – The following franchises still have their wild card bets available:
East – Karl Farbman
North – OJ, The People’s Champ
South – None
West – Boss Hardigan, Dr. Oge, Yaz

Winners

Waldo Geraldo Faldo came out of Week 13 as the big winner in the East. He only won $100, but regained the lead in the division because of the shortcomings of most of the rest of the franchises. Also of note, in a week when many had setbacks, Art Schlichter won $500 and got right back into the mix….The rich get richer in the North, as Kenny Powers continued his second-half tear, winning $300 and taking the overall lead. Larisa Oleynik also won $500 and is suddenly just $600 out of the playoffs….Kiko Garcia actually lost $300 last week, but continues to enjoy a huge lead in the South Division, now $1,800 ahead of the rest of the field with four weeks to go….Rick Moranis took the leap with his wild card bet and got closer to Ron Mexico for the lead in the West, but there’s still a lot of jockeying to be done in the division, considering how many still can use that wild card bet. Blossom Russo also made a big move, winning $500 and is now tied for the final playoff spot.

Losers

The list is long for losers in the East Division last week: Karl Farbman, Gordon Bombay, Don Mattingly, The Big Hurt, and T-Ferg all lost $500. The good news is that the wild card chase has also dropped, so all of the franchises mentioned are still in the hunt….Abe Froman and The Phoenix both bet their wild cards and both lost $1,000 in Week 13. The Phoenix still has a tiny glimmer of hope in the North Division race….Bud Fox, Kimmy Gibbler, and Mr. Marbles all looked primed to make a playoff push, but all three lost $500. If the season ended today, only the division winner from the South would be headed to the postseason….The West was also a bloodbath: Dr. Oge, Boss Hardigan, Yaz, Teddy KGB, and The Notorious ABT all lost $500.

Wild Cards – The following franchises still have their wild card bets available:
East – Karl Farbman
North – OJ, The People’s Champ
South – None
West – Boss Hardigan, Dr. Oge, The Notorious ABT, Yaz

Winners

There was another changing of the guard in the East Division. Karl Farbman won $500 and jumped up to first place, now the third franchise to lead the East in the last three weeks….Kenny Powers increased his lead in the North after winning $300 in Week 12. He now enjoys a $900 lead on the rest of the pack….Kimmy Gibbler had a perfect week and might be making her move. With the rest of the South Division (and the league for that matter) struggling, she might be able to make a playoff push.…What a week for Ron Mexico. He pulled the trigger on his wild card bet, won $1,000 and vaulted himself to the top of the West. He now leads the incorrigible Rick Moranis by $300. However, there are still five wild card bets left in the division, so we are far from done.

Losers

Waldo and Don Mattingly both dropped $500 and fell back in the division race. Don is on a downward spiral, with -$1,000 over the last fortnight….The Phoenix continues to disappoint after such a great first half of the season. He only lost $200 last week but was fined for the third time in the last four weeks….Face dropped his wild card and might have ended his chances for a successful 2014 season. Stick a fork in him, he’s done….Teddy KGB went for the knockout punch in Week 12, wagering his wild card bet, but unfortunately he met the fate of his boy Ray Rice’s wife (too soon?). He’s still on the edge of the playoff picture, so his season’s not over.

Wild Cards – The following franchises still have their wild card bets available:

East – Karl Farbman
North – Abe Froman, OJ, The People’s Champ, The Phoenix
South – None
West – Boss Hardigan, Dr. Oge, Rick Moranis, The Notorious ABT, Yaz

Week 11 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

Waldo just keeps on moving up in the East. Another solid week has given him the division lead, but the race is still tight….Kenny Powers finally broke away from the rest of the pack in the North Division with a perfect three-teamer. The only downside for Kenny at this point is that he has used his wild card bet and both franchises that are close to him have yet to pull the trigger….What can you say about Kiko Garcia? No one is hotter right now. He won $500 and now has a huge $900 lead on the rest of the FMFL and a $1,600 lead on the rest of the South Division….Teddy KGB lost $100 last week but still holds onto the lead in the West. Seven of the eight franchises still have their wild card bets available.

Losers

A bust of a week for Don Mattingly. He lost $500, lost his lead in the East Division, and needs to turn things around or could be sitting outside of playoff position with another bad week….Just when Abe Froman looked to be gaining some momentum, he lost $500 and dropped back out of the North Division race….The Beard of Zeus. Seriously?…..Blossom Russo went from right in the mix of the playoff race to way out of it with a -$1,000 week. Similarly, The Notorious ABT could have not placed bets at all last week and had the same results. He was tardy and then lost $500 and has plummeted to the bottom of the West.

Week 10 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

A big week for the East left us with no shortage of winners, the biggest was T-Ferg who hit his wild card and won $600 on the week. Waldo, Karl, and Art had perfect weeks, too….Abe Froman got back to even money with a perfect Week 10. Don’t look now, but he’s within earshot of the leaders in the North Division….The rich get richer in the South, as Kiko Garcia won $500 and now is the overall FMFL leader. Even better, there’s some distance between him and the rest of the division. Also, Mr. Marbles is making some minor noise after a $1,000 week….The always-crowded West Division has a new leader and that man is Teddy KGB after a perfect week. Boss Hardigan and Yaz also won $500 as each franchise in the division has a legitimate shot. To date, not one West franchise has used his wild card bet.

Losers

No huge losses in the East Division, so for the week Don Mattingly had it the worst. His comfortable lead has been trimmed and he lost the overall spot, for now….Shecky plummeted down to the basement of the North after losing $1,000 for the week. He will need a herculean effort to bounce back in the remaining seven weeks….The Beard of Zeus – just ugly….And in between watching old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, The Notorious ABT dropped $500 in Week 10.

Week 9 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

After not making picks last week, Waldo Geraldo Faldo struck back with a huge wild card win and a $1,000 week. He’s now in playoff position and within earshot of the division lead in the East….Ever so often you can lose money and still be in the “Winners” section – OJ takes that prize this week. He lost $100, but because of the leaders falling back to him, he’s now in the middle of a dogfight for the North Division crown….Kiko Garcia was perfect in Week 9 and gets a little breathing room in the South. He’s now $400 back of the overall leaders….The entire West Division is still bunched together, so any franchise can make a leap in just one week. Rick Moranis did it this time around, winning $500 and going from last place to the brink of the playoff spots.

Losers

No big negative shifts took place in the East last week, but Babe sure is getting lonely in last place….Kenny Powers was brought back down to earth, losing $500, and is now in a tie with The Phoenix, who did even worse, losing $500 and a $100 fine on top. Suddenly, the North seems wide open….The 2013 Kimmy Gibbler is still missing in action, as the 2014 version lost $500 and cannot get anything going this season….Yaz looked primed to make a run at the West leaders, but lost $500 and dropped all the way down to last place.

Week 7 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

The big winner overall in Week 7 was Art Schlichter. He nailed his wild card and hit his other bet to win $1,000 on the week and jump back into the tightened race in the East….Don’t look now, but The People’s Champ is making some noise from the North Division cellar. He won $500 and looks to ride this momentum into Week 8….Kiko Garcia keeps things going in the South. He’s not breaking away, but only has one viable competitor at this point….Teddy KGB finally made a move in the West, but was fined for the second straight week. If his bets were on time, he would be just $400 off the lead.

Losers

Can Babe catch a break? He’s the only one not in contention in the East Division, but there’s still a long way to go….Most in the North had mediocre results, so it’s time to point out that Larisa Oleynik, a once feared and storied franchise, is still woefully behind in the division race….The Beard of Zeus and Mr. Marbles both dropped $500, and both are right at home in the lackluster South….Blossom Russo couldn’t take the heat of the West race and lost $500 in Week 8.

Week 6 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

Waldo Geraldo Faldo didn’t do much in Week 6 – only won $100 – but it was enough to push him up to first place in the East. As of now, he enjoys the winning percentage tiebreaker and the top spot in the division….OJ managed to slightly close the gap in the North. He won $300 and is now just $800 behind The Phoenix….Not much positive movement in the South, so Kiko Garcia continues to lead, but it should be noted that he already used his wild card bet….One week after going 0-for-5 on a five teamer, Dr. Oge silences the critics and goes 4-for-5 and recaptures the lead in the West.

Losers

In the East, Babe just can’t catch a break. Another tough week drops him down to last in the division. Oh, how the mighty have fallen….Bayonnaise and The People’s Champ, once best buddies on an Australian adventure, are again enjoying each other’s company at the bottom of the North standings….Mr. Marbles lost $500 in Week 6 and is headed in the wrong direction in the South….Rick Moranis is back to his old ways, losing another $500. He’s -$1,000 the last two weeks after sharing the lead in the West after Week 4.

10.07.2014

Week 5 Recap: Winners & Losers

by The Executive Director

Winners

Not much movement in the East last week, so the winner continues to be The Big Hurt. He enjoys a $100 lead on two foes and has avoided most of the pitfalls that tripped him up early in the year last season…. The Phoenix is doing something right up North. He had another perfect week and now has a $500 lead on the rest of the league after five weeks…Kiko Garcia rose up last week to seize control in the South Division. He won $500 and now has a $600 lead on the rest of the pack. Also of note was Kimmy Gibbler winning her wild card bet and trying to make a run…it was only a $100 week for Yaz, but he’ll take it, as he benefitted from the rest of the West Division’s missteps. He now has the lead by a slim margin.

Losers

Art Schlichter continues to own the cellar in the East Division and must be thinking about pulling the trigger on a wild card bet to get back into it before this season gets away from him….Poor Bayonnaise. He lost $1,000 last week after loading up on the Saints. Also, Kenny Powers looked like a legitimate threat to The Phoenix in the North Division, but he dropped $500 in Week 5 and is now $1,600 off of the lead….Chris B. Corey is the big loser in the South, both because of his results in the FMFL and for emailing your Executive Director in the wee hours of the night with (alleged) lurid tales of his exploits. Dr. Oge bet five teams last week. All five lost. Rick Moranis lost $500 as well, which has knocked both gentlemen out of the lead in the West.
